The Mbirizi School Project supports the primary school of the village of Mbirizi, north of Kampala, in Uganda. Almost 300 children get an education there, almost a third of whom are orphans. The school is extremely important for the future of the area, which is cut off from electricity, running water, medical care and infrastructure.
The first efforts are already paying up. Brand new educational wall paintings convinced 70 extra pupils to attend the school. The next step will be to offer the children lunch on a daily basis. A daily lunch for the whole school costs about seven euros, which comes down to 3 cents per child. As you can tell, your support can really make a difference.
The project was founded by Kristel Debandt, a Belgian social worker, who got to know the school and its children during a visit in Uganda.
